About this position

StudentsGoAbroad invites travelers from around the world to participate in this two-week intensive camp that immerses participants in the rich diversity of Balinese culture, nature and sustainable action. Through our thematic lectures, hands-on workshops, outdoor adventures and community engagement, participants will gain a deeper understanding of Bali's philosophy, traditions and environmental initiatives while enjoying unique experiences and learning about the beauty of Bali.

Schedule

Week 1

Introduction to Balinese history, philosophy ("Tri Hita Karana") and environmental issues.

Introduction to the importance of mangrove forests, coral restoration and turtle conservation with experts, a team of lecturers from Udayana University Bali and local organizations/NGOs.

Week 2 

The second week of the Bali Eco Immersion course focuses on the link between cultural traditions and environmental responsibility. Towards the end of the program there will also be a learning presentation, evaluation and conclusion of the course.


Itinerary of your stay abroad

DAY 1 | ARRIVAL

Arrival at Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport

DAY 2 | EAST BALI

After a welcome breakfast and orientation with the team, we head to East Bali for a first introduction to Bali's unique culture.

DAY 3 | WELLNESS & NORTH BALI

After a traditional wellness retreat and workshop in the morning, the third day continues towards Permuteran, a traditional Balinese village. The day ends with a Balinese-style campfire.

DAY 4 | MARINE CONSERVATION

The fourth day is dedicated to marine conservation. After a workshop, the participants go on a snorkeling tour to experience Bali's marine ecosystem up close.

DAY 5 | TURTLE CONSERVATION

On this day, we head to the Turtle Conservation and Education Center on Serangan Island. In addition to interesting workshops and seagrass explorations, young turtles are released into the wild in the afternoon. The day ends with a visit to a traditional kecak dance at the famous Uluwatu temple.

DAY 6 | MANGROVE FORESTS

In several workshops and discussions you will reflect on your role in the local ecosystem and learn about the mangrove forests. In the afternoon we will visit Bali's most important mangrove forest.

DAY 7 | REFLECTION & SUP

During the day we reflect together on the experiences and implications of the first week. In the afternoon there will be an introduction to stand-up paddling.

DAY 8 | REST DAY

Time for a break. On the eighth day, all participants can explore Bali independently or treat themselves to a day's rest.

DAY 9 | BALI & SUSTAINABILITY

Off to the Subak Museum, where you can learn a lot about Balinese culture, religion and sustainable agriculture. Then it's off to Lemukih Eco Village to take part in the waterfall trekking.

DAY 10 | RICE FIELDS & WATERFALLS

Day 10 is all about adventure. Waterfall slides, rice fields and more await you.

DAY 11 | YOGA

Time to relax? During yoga in Balangan, you will not only learn about the importance of yoga in Balinese culture, but you can also stretch, stretch and relax your body.

DAY 12 | REFLECTION

The Bali Academy course is slowly coming to an end, so on this day we reflect in several workshops and present our case studies.

DAY 13 | SUP YOGA & BEACH

The day begins with a stand-up paddle yoga session, which is all about Bali's beaches. The penultimate day is also perfect for shopping for souvenirs.

DAY 14 | DEPARTURE

It's time to check out on the last day, but with unforgettable experiences and instructive lessons from the Bali Academy course in your luggage.

Your accommodation

All accommodation is included in the 14-day Bali Academy course. You have a place in student accommodation with wifi, shared kitchen and air conditioning for the entire two weeks.

In addition, all three nights in North and East Bali during our excursions are included.

Also included are 3 meals per day and drinking water.

Our local team

Your coordinator in Bali, Indonesia

All internship and volunteer programs in Bali are coordinated by Laura and Rima. Laura was born in Surabaya, Java, and moved to Bali several years ago to finish her English Literature Master in Cultural studies. Rima, joined the team after returning home from from her 4-year stay in Germany.  The young and energetic team will assist you during your travel preparations and during your entire stay on the island. Moreover, they regularly organise meetings with all interns and volunteers and are happy to share insider tips, that will make your stay unique and unforgettable.
