Your accommodation

A high school exchange in Ireland is not only about attending school – it also means having a safe and supportive home away from home. Safety, structure, and personal care are at the heart of the experience.

The type of accommodation depends on the school you choose – whether it is a public high school, a private school, or a boarding school.

🏡 Living with a Host Family

Most students during their high school exchange in Ireland live with carefully selected host families.

A host family provides:

  • A safe and welcoming home environment

  • Full integration into Irish daily life

  • Ongoing daily support and guidance

  • Genuine cultural immersion

All host families are screened and work closely with schools and local coordinators.

For students attending public high schools, host family accommodation is the standard option.

If you choose a private school with boarding facilities, you can become part of a structured boarding community.

Depending on the school, different models are available:

  • 5-day boarding → weekends spent with a host family

  • 12-day boarding → every second weekend with a host family

  • 7-day boarding → occasional weekend closures

During mid-term breaks in autumn and spring, students also stay with host families.

Boarding schools offer a structured daily routine, close supervision, and a strong sense of community.
