About this position

This internship in Portugal’s Algarve offers the perfect combination of professional experience and Mediterranean lifestyle. The Algarve is one of Europe’s most stunning regions, known for its golden beaches, turquoise waters, dramatic cliffs, and relaxed way of life.


During your internship, you’ll work in renowned 4–5 star hotels—some among the best in the world—where you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience in the hospitality industry. A German-speaking local coordinator will support you throughout your stay, from arrival to departure, and you’ll also have access to a 24/7 emergency hotline.


What to expect

As a Reception Intern, you’ll be an integral part of the Front Office team and learn how international hotels operate:

Guest Relations & Front Office Support

  • Welcome and assist international guests

  • Support with check-in and check-out procedures

  • Answer questions and act as a main point of contact for guest requests

Reservations & Communication

  • Handle bookings and guest inquiries

  • Communicate with guests via email and phone

  • Coordinate with Housekeeping, F&B, and Management teams

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update guest data

  • Support the daily office and reception workflow

  • Gain insights into hotel software and professional hotel standards


Requirements

  • Minimum duration: 2 months

  • Age: 18–24 years

  • No further qualifications needed – motivation, openness, and enjoyment in working with people are enough!

Itinerary of your stay abroad

Arrival at the Airport

Arriving in a new country is always exciting. We want your arrival to be as relaxed as possible. Upon special request, you will be picked you up at the airport and will be brought to your host family or your shared flat. A driver will be waiting for you at the airport with a sign with your name on it. If you cannot find a flight at the desired date, don’t worry. You can choose another one a few days earlier or later.

Orientation program

Within the first days of your arrival one of the team members of our partner organisation will visit you and show you around. You will get to know the country and its people and you will be informed about Do’s and Dont’s. Your local contact person will also provide useful hints for a better starting point in a new lifestyle. You can also join in a language course if you so desire.

Your internship starts

On the first day of your project, you are usually accompanied by a member of our local partner who will answer all of your questions. The further project days your local contact person will always be available for you via phone if you have any concerns or issues to share with somebody.

Free time & weekend

The weekend is totally yours! You may ask your local contact person from our partner organisation about upcoming events, sights, shopping tips or other must see’s. On some days there will be field trips organized by our partner organization. We recommend you to join them as it is always fun to experience a new country with others. 

Departure

You shall contact your local contact person a few days prior to your departure to inform about options for your airport drop-off. It will not be included in the services of the internship programs, but our partner organization will help you organize it.

Your accommodation

During your internship at the Algarve, your accommodation is already taken care of, completely free of charge! You’ll stay in a shared apartment (WG) together with other interns or young professionals, giving you the perfect balance of independence and community.

The apartments are fully equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a kitchen, living area, and Wi-Fi.

After work, you can relax with your flatmates, explore the beautiful surroundings, or enjoy the local cafés and restaurants together.
