About this position
This culinary service & hospitality internship in Portugal’s Algarve gives you the chance to combine hands-on hotel experience with life in one of Europe’s most breathtaking coastal regions. Known for golden beaches, dramatic cliffs, and a warm, welcoming culture, the Algarve is the perfect place to grow professionally while enjoying the relaxed Mediterranean lifestyle.
You’ll work in a prestigious 4–5 star hotel—among some of the world’s best—where you’ll support the restaurant, bar, and service teams. Whether you assist during breakfast service, help in the restaurant, or gain experience behind the bar, you’ll learn the essential skills of international hospitality. Throughout your stay, a German-speaking coordinator will support you personally, and you’ll also have 24/7 emergency assistance.
What to expect
As an intern in the culinary service department, you’ll become part of the daily service operations in a luxury hotel environment:
Guest Service & Hospitality
Welcome and attend to international guests
Provide friendly, attentive service during meals and drinks
Support excellent customer experiences in Restaurant, Bar, and Breakfast areas
Restaurant & Bar Support
Take orders and serve food & beverages
Assist with table setup, clearing, and maintaining cleanliness
Prepare basic drinks at the bar (depending on your experience and hotel policies)
Operational Insights
Learn how premium hotel restaurants operate
Support the coordination between kitchen, bar, and service teams
Gain insights into international F&B standards and workflows
Requirements
Minimum duration: 2 months
Age: 18–24 years
No prior experience required — motivation, friendliness, and a desire to work with people are enough!
Compensation & Benefits
Monthly allowance: €200–450 (depending on hotel and role)

Itinerary of your stay abroad
Arrival at the Airport
Arriving in a new country is always exciting. We want your arrival to be as relaxed as possible. Upon special request, you will be picked you up at the airport and will be brought to your host family or your shared flat. A driver will be waiting for you at the airport with a sign with your name on it. If you cannot find a flight at the desired date, don’t worry. You can choose another one a few days earlier or later.
Orientation program
Within the first days of your arrival one of the team members of our partner organisation will visit you and show you around. You will get to know the country and its people and you will be informed about Do’s and Dont’s. Your local contact person will also provide useful hints for a better starting point in a new lifestyle. You can also join in a language course if you so desire.
Your internship starts
On the first day of your project, you are usually accompanied by a member of our local partner who will answer all of your questions. The further project days your local contact person will always be available for you via phone if you have any concerns or issues to share with somebody.
Free time & weekend
The weekend is totally yours! You may ask your local contact person from our partner organisation about upcoming events, sights, shopping tips or other must see’s. On some days there will be field trips organized by our partner organization. We recommend you to join them as it is always fun to experience a new country with others.
Departure
You shall contact your local contact person a few days prior to your departure to inform about options for your airport drop-off. It will not be included in the services of the internship programs, but our partner organization will help you organize it.

During your internship at the Algarve, your accommodation is already taken care of, completely free of charge! You’ll stay in a shared apartment (WG) together with other interns or young professionals, giving you the perfect balance of independence and community.
The apartments are fully equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a kitchen, living area, and Wi-Fi.
After work, you can relax with your flatmates, explore the beautiful surroundings, or enjoy the local cafés and restaurants together.
