Accomodation in The Dominican Republic

Here, StudentsGoAbroad shows a few different choices of accommodation while you are staying in the Dominican Republic.

The choice is all yours! There are many options for accommodations, it all depends on how you want to shape your life and living in the Dominican Republic. You can venture out on your own to look for a place to sleep or leave it to our local partners. They have been collaborating well for many years with various landlords, so they can offer you several options.

If you chose to leave the search up to our local partners, they can provide these 3 options for accommodation: You can choose between the guest house and a host family or put in a personalized request, specifying what you are looking for. Accommodations can be found near the beach and the promenade, or close to your work placement, depending on your wishes.

Accommodation in a Guest House

This fully equipped, typical Dominican style villa, for interns and volunteers, is centrally located in the lovely town of Samana. From here you can reach the beach and promenade Malecón in just 5 minutes. This is a very convenient location if you like going out in the evenings. You have various restaurants to chose from and at every turn you hear the rhythms of salsa, merengue, and bachata. It offers you a great view of the harbor as well. Any time of day makes for a lovely stroll along the path to enjoy the Dominican life. You may even catch a glimpse of the fountains from humpback whales in the Bay of Samana.

In the Guesthouse, you will not live alone. Your roommates will be other international interns and volunteers, which are also active in the Dominican Republic. You will share the common area and have the chance to get to know one another, exchange tips and plan trips together. The kitchen and bathroom are fully equipped and you will find all that you need in your new home.

Staying with a Host Family

A stay in the Dominican Republic doesn’t get more authentic than this! For all trainees who want to immerse themselves in the culture of the Dominicans, we recommend staying with a host family. You'll become part of the family and their daily routines, integrating yourself into a completely new way of life. And another thing is for sure - you will perfect your Spanish skills!

The homes of host families are generally simple but show great attention to detail and charm and each trainee gets their own room. Two daily meals with the family are included in the program fee. Therefore, you also get well acquainted with the traditional dishes and perhaps learn some new recipes. The families like to get out on the weekends and show off the beautiful surroundings in their home country. All families have been carefully selected and look forward to your visit. The Dominicans are very open and hospitable - soon you will be a part of the family.
