For Annika, her internship at Villarreal CF was much more than a professional experience — it was the chance to see the daily life of a professional football club from behind the scenes. During her three months in Spain, she gained valuable insights, connected with other international interns, and experienced Valencia as a vibrant city full of energy. In this report, she shares how the internship shaped her memories, friendships, and future career path.
y three-month internship at the Spanish football club Villarreal CF was a unique and unforgettable experience. As I have always been a huge football fan, it was something very special for me to get a behind-the-scenes look at a professional football club and experience how the daily business of such a club works.
My time in Spain was incredibly enriching, both professionally and personally. During my internship, I was given exciting and meaningful tasks through which I was able to learn a lot. My supervisor supported me at all times, always took the time to answer my questions, and made sure that I felt comfortable and gained valuable experience. One of the highlights was that we had the opportunity to watch matches of the first team, the women’s team, and the youth teams, and we were even able to participate in meet-and-greets. You could really tell that the supervisors genuinely cared about us interns.
Another major highlight was the other interns. Many of them were around my age, and we immediately got along very well. As a result, real friendships developed, and we had an unforgettable time together both during the internship and in our free time.
Life in Valencia was also simply perfect. The city offers everything: a beautiful beach, an impressive old town, modern architecture, and countless shopping and dining opportunities. In addition, there are many international students living there, which makes it very easy to meet new people and quickly feel connected. The Spanish joy of life and relaxed mentality fascinated me from day one.
The internship also helped me a lot in discovering what I would like to do professionally in the future. Through this experience, my interest in business and international topics became even stronger, which is why I am now studying International Business.
Looking back, this was one of the best experiences of my life, and I miss it very much. I would highly recommend an internship like this to anyone – both for professional development and for personal growth.
