Psychology Internship in Valencia: Lea’s Experience in Spain

Lea spent three months in Valencia completing a required internship as part of her psychology studies. At a psychotherapy practice, she gained valuable hands-on experience, quickly made new connections, and discovered Valencia as a vibrant city by the sea. In her internship report, she shares how this experience shaped her both professionally and personally.

I spent three months in Valencia for the mandatory internship of my psychology degree – and to this day, I can hardly put into words how much the experience meant to me.

Living abroad for a longer period of time had always been a little dream of mine: building my own daily life and routines, getting to know the country and its culture. So when it became clear that I could also complete my internship abroad, I thought to myself: what a perfect opportunity! I actually came across StudentsGoAbroad purely by chance. After the first introductory call, everything moved very quickly. The team was incredibly kind and communication was completely straightforward. What had started as a distant idea gradually became reality, and at the end of the year I finally received the confirmation for my internship placement at a psychotherapy practice.

In mid-March, the time had come and I packed my bags for the next three months. To be honest, I had plenty of worries at the beginning: Would I make friends? How would the internship go? What if the language barrier turned out to be too much? But those worries disappeared faster than I could have imagined. Within the very first week, I met wonderful people through my Spanish course, the internship and my shared flat, who made settling in so much easier.
