Internships in Spain

Carolin spent several months in Valencia, gaining valuable experience through her internship, Spanish classes, and everyday life in Spain. Although she barely spoke Spanish at the beginning, she quickly improved through her language course and daily conversations with locals. In her internship report, Carolin shares why Valencia became such a special place for her and how much this experience abroad helped her grow personally.

From April to August, I had the chance to spend several months in Valencia and gather a lot of new experiences there. Before the trip, I didn't have much Spanish, and honestly I couldn't speak it at all. That made it all the more exciting to see how quickly I improved over the course of my stay.

After arriving, I settled in very well and quickly got used to my new daily routine. I was also welcomed warmly at my internship right away. I especially enjoyed working with the different children. It made every day a little different, and I took in many new impressions and experiences. At the same time, I took a lot away for myself personally and discovered new sides of myself.

Learning Spanish was a big part of my stay as well. Through a language course, but above all through daily contact with the people around me, I made great progress in a relatively short time. If you want to learn a new language, I think there is hardly a better way than going straight to the country where it is spoken. Hearing and speaking it every day made Spanish part of my everyday life very quickly. By now, I can hold a conversation in Spanish, and I want to keep building my language skills after my stay.

Of course, besides the internship and learning Spanish, I also had the chance to get to know Valencia better. I liked the city from the very start. The mix of city life, Spanish culture, good weather and the proximity to the sea made Valencia a great place for me. Although the city wasn't really on my bucket list beforehand, I felt so at home during my stay that I even decided to stay longer.

All in all, my time in Valencia was a very nice and special experience. I met new people, gained professional experience, learned a new language and took in many new impressions. Above all, I realized how much you can learn and experience when you open yourself up to a new environment.

I would happily do a stay abroad like this again at any time, and I can well imagine getting to know more countries and cultures in the future.
