Spanish to English Language : David's Construction Internship in London

I always wanted to spend one semester of my studies abroad, because once you start your working life it is harder to make such an experience. After graduating high school I already did an internship in Spain. It was a great experience and this is why I decided to go abroad again if there is a good opportunity for me. Therefore, I thought it would be a good decision to look for an internship abroad to complete my mandatory internship. I can only recommend doing so!

Since I already did an internship in Spain, I wanted to concentrate on my English skills to further improve them. Nowadays, good English skills are required for a lot of vacancies. I didn’t want to go too far away from home and so I decided to stay in Europe. Since I wanted to further improve my English skills, England and Ireland were on top of my wish list.

Through Students Go Abroad, I found a very interesting company in London. After a Skype Interview, I got accepted by the company. Since the company made a good first impression on me, I decided to start my internship with this corporation.

I did my internship in a construction company in the center of London. There, I was engaged in product development as a designing engineer. My main tasks in this department were new construction and development of sites, calculation, and analysis of stability and security as well as creating the design. I liked my tasks and the working atmosphere was comfortable as well. I am really happy, I found this placement.

In London, you can find all that the heart can desire. People of every age and interest can find a lot of interesting activities. First of all, London offers a lot of sights like Big Ben, London Eye, Piccadilly Circus, Tower Bridge and many more. Furthermore, there are a lot of beautiful markets and although London is a big city, it offers a lot of parks with lakes and rivers. For culture lovers, there are various museums, musicals, and concerts. For everyone interested in sports there are a lot of opportunities as well. Moreover, there are a lot of bars and clubs to spend a nice evening. Although the English kitchen is not known to be the most delicious one, you can find nearly everything that we have in Germany as well. Furthermore, I can not approve the prejudice about English weather as well. There were a lot of sunny days and rarely rain.

Generally, London offers everything. Everyone who is fascinated by big cities makes the right choice with London. Of course, London doesn’t offer nature as other countries may do. The subways are really crowded, especially during rush hour and living expenses are high. But that is ok for me, one has to be able to cope with this when you want to live in a big city. On the other hand, London offers a lot of advantages and opportunities for leisure time activities. I had a great time in London improving my English skills and gaining professional experience while experiencing a new culture. I can only recommend doing an internship in London!
