London was founded around 50 AD by the Romans.
In 61 Ad Queen Boudicca led a rebellion against the Romans.
Boudicca burned London down, which was built up after the rebellion.
With a population of 25.000 in roman times, London was the biggest city in Britain.
The Saxony London consisted of wooden huts with thatched roofs.
In 842 London was attacked by the Dane.
In 851 they came back again to burn down a big part of the city.
Afterward, they captured North and East England including London.
King Alfred won in 878 the fight against Dane.
Alfred reconstructed the old walls and therefore the city was settled by foreign traders.
Edward the confessor(1042-1066) built a wooden palace in Westminster.
Later the parliament and Westminister were using the place for meetings.
As a result, London became the seat of the government.
In 1381 the farmers were rebelling. After some fatalities like Cantebury archbishop and the rebellion leader, everything calmed down.
The surrounded towns like Whitechapel, Westminster, Clerkenwell, etc. were overthrown.
In 1666 followed the big fire. About 13.300 buildings were destroyed and almost 80.000 people became homeless.
In 1703 Buckingham palace was built for the earl of Buckingham. From 1703 queen Victoria lived there as the first head of state.
Between 1760 and 1766 the city walls were demolished.
In the 19.th century, there were although built a few numbers of docks to offer more space for the merchant ships.
Besides London's importance as a port, London was one of the biggest manufacture centers at that time too.
At the beginning of the 20. century the city grew up by the rapidly growing population.
Till 1939 the population increased 8,7 million people.
While the airplane and the automobile industry rose up, the port of London couldn`t manage the collapse of the British empires and the entry in the European economic area.
London's status as one of the most important cities of the world became more meaningful during the of the Olympic games in 2012.
London is one of the main international business centers and one of the three command centers besides New York and Tokyo.
Although England has to import 40% of its required raw materials, it is in terms of economy and economic growth among the world-leading countries. England's prosperity is dependent on self-produced goods and exports. More than two-thirds of all residents of England are employed in the manufacturing and service industries; the electronic and food industries are the most important. Also, vehicle and textile production are of great importance. In 1975 England began with the production of oil from the North Sea and also coal mining is important in England. Nearly 30% of the country is supposed to be used for cattle breeding and agriculture. The production of dairy products, meat, and wool production constitutes the main part.
