An internship in Cape Town? Always a good choice! Cape Town can not only convince with its unique nature and African flair but is also a top destination for a professional internship abroad. In addition to Table Mountain, colorful houses and penguins there is much more to discover.

Cape Town offers a lot of after work activities. I was planning to try most of them but hardly managed to cover half of them. Whether you love to hike or simply want to relax at the beach, in Cape Town there is something to do for everybody.

Table Mountain is an absolute highlight of Cape Town. No way to miss that one. The view is stunning although it can get quite windy and cool on top. So you better take your jacket. Wherever you are in Cape Town, Table Mountain can be seen from almost everywhere. The best view you`ll have from the Waterfront, Bloubergstrand and Robben Island!

I enjoyed walking up to the top of Lions Head a lot. I would do it again any time. It is an easy trail at first but the higher it gets the more difficult it becomes. You certainly shouldnt be afraid of heights. But don`t give up until you reach the very top. The view is worth it, promised! With good weather conditions, you will be able to see the Twelve Apostles, Camps Bay, Sea Point, Signal Hill, and the City Bowl.

The V&A Waterfront has a lot to offer: Hotels, apartments, restaurants, a stage, a movie theatre, a Craft Market and a nice aquarium. All in all, it is an entertaining place. If you are interested in South African history, then you should take a trip to Robben Island. There you can participate in a tour and visit the cell where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned!

Camps Bay is the right place to sit back and enjoy the rest of the evening with friends. Either you take a seat in one of the comfy cafes or you enjoy the wonderful view on the Atlantic Ocean right from the beach. Just relax while watching the sunset in its warm colors! You can also watch the sunset from the beach of Llandudno. An unforgettable experience!

Take some days off to drive along the Garden Route and enjoy the phenomenal landscape! This is a tour for young and old as there are loads of leisure time activities to do. To name just a few: There are many hikes, you can feed ostriches and even ride them (hold on tight!), you can risk a bungee jump, surf one of the big waves or ride a horse on the beach. Whatever you do, fun is guaranteed!

Cape of Good Hope is another breathtaking place to go and not to be missed! Its a good opportunity to drive along “Chapmans Peak Drive” and enjoy the spectacular views.

In the Good Hope Nature Reserve, you will certainly meet baboon families. Watch out as they can become pretty cheeky. If you are lucky you will also see zebras, ostriches and antelopes. Be aware that at the Cape it`s mostly windy and chilly.

The best time for whale watching at the South African coastlines is from July until December. If you want to have a very close look at them you have to visit Hermanus (about 2 hours drive from Cape Town). This is the place where Southern Right Whales come really close to shore. It`s fascinating and a very good opportunity to take stunning photographs.

The famous Long Street is right in the City Centre of Cape Town. It is perfect for a nice walk along fancy fashion, books and music shops. Furthermore, you`ll find numerous cafes, restaurants as well as backpackers and clubs. Long Street is usually very busy, especially during the summer months.

This lively market place offers souvenirs and gifts for surely every taste. You can find favorable pearl- and shell jewels, diverse African art products, clothes, pictures, wire art and much more. It`s absolutely worth it to go there and of course, you can bargain.

If you like penguins, then you should definitely take a trip to Simons Town (only a short drive from Cape Town). Boulders Beach is home to the African Penguin. Unique and so cute! Don’t forget your camera!
