If you are planning to stay longer, you should contact the Ecuadorian consulate in Germany before you start your trip to get detailed information.
Vaccination
The Department of Foreign Affairs recommends immunization protection against diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, if necessary mumps, measles, rubella, and influenza. Hepatitis A is recommended as well. If you consider a longer stay, you should also get an immunization against hepatitis B, hydrophobia and typhus. Further information can be found on the website of the Department of Foreign Affairs, at the appropriate country information for Ecuador.
Insurance
For the time of your internship or voluntary, you are required to have a valid overseas health insurance. Before concluding any insurance, you should inform yourself accurately about the offered insurance benefits and especially if a return transport to Germany is guaranteed. Climate
As a result of the different heights (0 to 6000m), there are heavy regional differences in temperatures. However, there are only two seasons - rainy season and dry season. At the cost of Ecuador, it is mostly cloudy with average temperatures of 30°C and the rain season is short (January till April). At the plateau, the rainy season lasts from January till June. Being situated 1000 km west of Ecuador, the Galápagos-Islands are unusually dry and from January until April temperatures are very high. Therefore, you need to take suitable clothes depending on your destination and period of traveling.
