Flic en Flac is located on the west coast of Mauritius, south of the capital Port Louis. Flic en Flac is known for its beautiful long sandy beaches. As a result, the site has blossomed in recent years as an attraction for tourists. Here you'll find a variety of restaurants, bars, apartments and hotels. You will probably find a higher degree of multiculturalism here than anywhere else on the island.

Here you will see more evidence of the European influence on the history of this country. The name Flic en Flac is reminiscent of the colonial rule of the Dutch. Originally called the place of 'Fried Landt Flaak', describing the area as 'free and flat land'.
Here is where colonization and sugar cane cultivation began. In the 70s and 80s Mauritius’s economy was focused more on sugar and textile production, and less on tourism. Only a few years later, as the 90s began, the economy opened up to the tourism sector. And so Flic en Flac became a hotspot for luxury resorts and hotels with private beaches and five star cuisine.
