With 1.5 million inhabitants, life in Fukuoka is the eighth largest city in Japan and forms the gateway to China and South Korea.
1. Fukuoka Tower
With a height of 234 meters, the tower, built-in 1989, is the tallest coastal tower in Japan. At a height of 123 meters, there is a viewing platform with a café - especially at sunset you can enjoy a magnificent view.
2. Marine World
The scientific museum, built in the form of a sea shell, shows around 7,000 underwater creatures from 230 different species.
3. Nokonoshima
The small island is just a short ferry ride from Fukuoka. Here you can find beautiful, naturally designed parks. Island Park attracts most visitors because it has a bathing beach and a breathtaking view of the ocean.
4. Fukuoka Dome
The gigantic stadium with a lockable roof is the home ground of the popular baseball team Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. Tours are offered in Japanese and English!
5. Fukuoka Art Museum
Antique pottery and Buddhist guards can be seen on one floor, while works by Basquiat, Brancusi, Rothko, and Warhol are presented on the upper floor. In other galleries, modern works by Western and Japanese artists are juxtaposed.
