Is Volunteering Right For Me?

Is

volunteering

right for me?

Your "little" can be someone else's "much". Volunteering around the world is an enriching and transformative experience that can broaden your horizons and give you a new perspective on life. It's a chance to make a positive impact in the lives of others, while also learning about different cultures and ways of life. The essence of volunteering is to give and to be kind to others, regardless of your skills. All it takes is a willingness to step out of your comfort zone, challenge yourself, and develop valuable skills that can benefit you both personally and professionally. Whether you're teaching children, or helping to build homes for disadvantages or displaced families, or even working with animals in a wildlife sanctuary: Volunteering abroad can be a life-changing adventure that leaves you with memories that last a lifetime.

Here are our 6 key aspects to consider before becoming a volunteer:

#1

The Right Maturity

Basically, everyone 18 or over is suitable, if they feel ready and up for the challenge. For most volunteer projects, there are no special skills required, other than the willingness to do your best for the people around you.

#2

Authentic Experiences

You need to be aware that the programs are authentic and real. This means that volunteers are confronted with many social, intercultural and personal challenges. Especially if you go to a new continent it can be demanding at times.

#3

The Project Choice

It is important, that future volunteers take time to select their project by first defining their own goals, intentions, availability and how much effort they are willing to give. With years of experience we are always there to help you!

#4

It's Not An Ego Trip

Although you will have enough free time to explore your host country it's important to realize that volunteering is not a holiday, not an ego trip or a tourist attraction. The projects are authentic, real and honest.

#5

Sustainability Is The Goal

You are making a contribution by keeping the project moving. You won't always notice immediate changes in your project, so try to see your work in a global context and understand that your work adds to a better intercultural understanding.

#6

Realistic Expectations

It's normal to have dreams and expectations when embarking on a new journey. However, especially when volunteering abroad the reality can often differ greatly. If you have any doubts, we will help you see things through from the get-go.
