Barcelona is one of the most captivating travel destinations in Europe. More and more don’t want to return from the enchanting Mediterranean city and simply migrate. Impressive architectural treasures, inspiring art museums, and sun-drenched beaches and an exciting nightlife – are just a few good reasons to do an internship abroad in Barcelona. With its main industries in the textile, automotive and pharma industry, export and tourism, the city holds great possibilities for professional internships. Valencia offers great clubs and bars for young people and had also a broad cultural range. The Oceanografic and the Bioparc are interesting for animal lovers and the beach is recommendable for many people in the summer. The eight tiled towers of the Sagrada Familia church tower up to 120 meters above Barcelona. The impressive building by architect Antoni Guadí has not yet been finished and when he died in 1926, he had only finished one tower. The church was declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO in 2005 and should not be missed when visiting Barcelona.

The biggest Picasso collection in the world with 3600 drawings, sketches, gravures and ceramics was opened in 1963. The exhibition is organized chronologically and the museum has more than one million visitors yearly. Picasso spent 10 years of his youth in Barcelona and gave a few of his works to the city personally.

Montjuïc is Barcelona's very own mountain and in its area you can find the Olympic Stadium. You have a great view over the city from its terraces and if you do not want to walk up you can also take the cableway up to the mountain's peak.

The gothic cathedral in the heart of Barcelona was finished in 1448, but some changes to its facade were still made up to the end of the 19th century. The church is illuminated at night, so that it's also worth a visit in the dark. There are regular events taking place on the place in front of the church, the Placa de la Seu, and the surrounding cafés and restaurants are perfect for a little break from sightseeing.

La Ramba is a 1.3 km long street through the heart of Barcelona and actually consists of 5 different parts. In its middle is a pedestrian zone with lots of cafés and restaurants. A popular promenade for street performers which ends at the harbor and the famous Columbus Statue.

This museum with works of Joan Miró is situated on the Montjuic, Barcelona's own mountain. It was opened in 1975 while the artist was still alive. Next to Miró's art modern works of the 20th century of other artists are exhibited. The museum's terrace offers a great view of Barcelona. Do not miss it!

The Casa Milá was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984 and is, without doubt, one of the most famous buildings in Barcelona. It was designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí for the Milà family and finished in 1910. It got its nickname "La Pedrera", because of its remarkable architecture.

Barcelona's Aquarium is the largest and most important museum of its kind in Europe with 11000 ocean fish and mammals. In more than 35 different tanks the various sea habitats are recreated. One of its highlights is the 80-meter underwater tunnel through the shark tank.

The gothic church is in the La Ribera quarter and was finished in 1383. Compared to the other pretty pompous churches of the city, Santa Maria del Mar is rather plain and simple. Despite that or maybe because of that, the building is still impressive.

The Benedictine abbey Santa Maria de Montserrat is situated about 45 km from Barcelona on the Eastern peak of the Montserrat, which is a 1200 meter high mountain. It has an impressive view as far as the hinterland of Catalonia. It is one of the most popular places of pilgrimage.
