This intense 4 week summer course will help you to understand the impact of tourism in Bali and see the steps that are made towards sustainable tourism and ecotourism. Various field trips will help you to gain an insight into the efforts that are made to reduce the negative impacts and to preserve Bali’s main tourist attractions: its nature and cultural practices.

The course will take place form July 7th - August 1st 2025
Course Content:
- Introduction to sustainability & sustainable tourism
- The concept of “Tri Hita Karana” and sustainable tourism
- Introduction to Ecotourism
- Empowering the local community
- Sustainable tourism certification
- Measuring achievements in sustainable tourism
You can achieve up to 6 ECTS in this course.
Itinerary of your stay abroad
Program Flow 4 weeks courses in Bali
Arrival
You should arrive in Bali on Saturday or Sunday morning before the start of the course. Your destination airport is the Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar, Bali. From there you will get picked up by a member of our partner who will bring you to your accommodation for the next 4 weeks. It takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the traffic, to reach the accommodation. You will have the chance to withdraw or exchange money at the airport.
Welcome dinner
On Sunday evening, a welcome dinner will take place, where all participants and the staff of our partner can get to know each other. During the dinner, you will also receive a brief introduction to culture and traditions in Bali and Indonesia in general.
Start of Course
The course starts on Monday. The next four weeks are packed with lectures, case studies and field trips.
Weekends
On the first Saturday there will be a trip to Ubud to get a better understanding about the Balinese. The remaining weekends are free.
End of Course
The course ends on Friday of the fourth week. All participants have to move out of the accommodation at the latest on Saturday morning at 10 am. The airport return transport is not included in the program fee. On request our partner helps to organize the transfer to the airport.

Accommodation 4 weeks course in Bali
Depending on the number of participants, you will be accommodated in a villa or hotel with shared bedrooms. The rooms will be shared with 2 to 4 other participants, depending on the size of the room.
The villa is equipped with several bed- and bathrooms, a pool, shared kitchen, shared community room, WiFi and laundry facilities.
There are several small restaurants within walking distance from the accommodation.
