Between Big City Life and Nature: Luzie’s Internship in Vancouver
CATEGORY: Internship - Market Research
COUNTRY: Canada
READING TIME: 4 minutes
Between scenic weekend trips to the Rockies, late-night pub meetups, and new friendships from around the world, Luzie discovered how life in Canada perfectly combine professional growth with adventure and connection. In her internship report, she talks about her work in Vancouver and the perfect blend of mountains, sea, and vibrant culture in Canada.
In May, I had the unique opportunity to spend several months in Vancouver, Canada, for an internship abroad. From the moment I arrived, I realized how special this city is — surrounded by mountains and the ocean, it perfectly combines the energy of a big city with the calm of nature.
About my market research internship
I completed my internship through Studentsgoabroad (SGA) at an organization that supports local businesses. There, I worked in the field of market research and contributed to exciting projects related to commercial leasing, small businesses, and sustainable urban development. What I especially enjoyed was that my work wasn’t limited to data analysis — I also got to participate in stakeholder meetings and share my own ideas. This gave me a realistic insight into how a non-profit organization operates.
Adventure in Vancouver and beyond
Of course, my daily life wasn’t just about work. Every Wednesday evening, I joined the Pub Nights, which were a great opportunity to meet people from all over the world, exchange experiences, and explore Vancouver’s nightlife together. Many of these connections turned into friendships that made my time in Canada even more memorable.
A real highlight of my stay was a trip to the Rocky Mountains — breathtaking landscapes, crystal-clear lakes, snow-capped peaks, and endless hiking trails. Outside of work, I took every chance to travel: weekends on Vancouver Island, day trips to Whistler, or hikes around Vancouver. After finishing my internship, I continued my travels to Toronto, visited Niagara Falls, and explored several cities across the U.S.
My personal conclusion after several months in Canada
Overall, my internship abroad was the perfect mix of professional experience, personal growth, and adventure. I learned a lot — both professionally and culturally. Canada taught me the importance of being open to people, trying new things, and appreciating nature.
I can only recommend taking the chance to do an internship abroad — for me, it was an unforgettable experience that I’ll always cherish.
