Die Praktika und Freiwilligenprojekte setzten meist voraus das du Englisch und ggf. Spanisch sprichst. Es ist jedoch immer hilfreich einen Sprachkurs in der Landessprach als Vorbereitung für den Auslandsaufenthalt zu absolvieren, da nicht davon ausgegangen werden kann, dass auch außerhalb des Praktikums oder des Projektes jeder Englisch sprechen kann.

Im ersten Schritt empfehlen wir immer, mit dem persönlichen Ansprechpartner im Unternehmen direkt über deine Erwartungen und mögliche Unstimmigkeiten zu sprechen, um einen professionellen Eindruck von dir aufrechtzuerhalten. Wenn du dir unsicher bist, kannst du sowohl uns als auch deine Praktikumskoordinatoren jederzeit kontaktieren.

Wir informieren dich gerne über empfohlene Impfungen, Flug-Angebote, abzuschließende Auslandskrankenversicherungen und über die Visums-Formalitäten. Ausführliche Informationen findest du jeweils auf den unterschiedlichen Länderseiten, wo du dein Auslandspraktikum oder deine Freiwilligenarbeit machen möchtest.

In der Regel sind andere Praktikanten vor Ort. Es kann aber auch mal vorkommen dass du keinen SGA Kandidaten antriffst, dann aber sicherlich andere gleichgesinnte Globetrotter.

EUROPA: Mit der europäischen Krankenversicherungskarte bist du im Notfall abgesichert und wirst kostenfrei von Ärzten behandelt. Achte darauf, dass du die EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) Karte im Vorfeld deiner Reise beantragst und mitnimmst.

Eine Krankenversicherung für deine Zeit im Ausland muss auf jeden Fall abgeschlossen sein. Unsere Partner vor Ort haben hier verschiedene Angebote und beraten dich gerne zu den Möglichkeiten.

Ihr möchtet euch zusammen anmelden? Das ist auf jeden Fall möglich! in der Vergangenheit haben wir viele Freunde und Paare zusammen vermitteln können, nicht immer im selben Praktikumsunternehmen oder Freiwilligenprojekt aber auf jeden Fall in derselben Stadt.

Das Budget hängt in erster Linie von zwei Hauptfaktoren ab: welche Unterkunft du wählst und wie du deine Freizeit gestaltest. Ein Zimmer in einer Gastfamilie mag auf den ersten Blick teurer sein, allerdings sollte man beachten, dass du Mahlzeiten wie z.B. Frühstück und Abendessen zusammen mit der Familie zu dir nimmst. In einer Studenten-WG musst du selbst für deine Mahlzeiten aufkommen. Vergiss auch nicht, Aktivitäten mit in dein Budget einzuplanen, wie der Besuch eines Konzertes, Essen gehen, Pub-Besuche und Ausflüge.

Wenn du deinen Auslandsaufenthalt in Europa planst, kommst du in der Regel mit dem deutschen Führerschein zurecht. Sobald es Übersee geht, solltest du einen internationalen Führerschein beantragen.

Dies ist abhängig von deinem Reiseziel. Wenn du noch Super-Last-Minute starten möchtest ruf uns auf jeden Fall direkt an. Gerade in Europa können wir innerhalb von 2 Wochen Praktika vermitteln. Eine Abenteuerreise haben wir für dich auch innerhalb einer Woche gebucht, hier müssen wir dann immer nur die länderspezifischen Visabestimmungen einhalten und ggf. Zeit für die Visabeantragung einplanen.

10.1 Programme für Auslandspraktika und Freiwilligenarbeit

Rücktritt vor erfolgreicher Vermittlung/Buchung:

Tritt der Teilnehmer vor Kontaktaufnahme mit der Partnerorganisation zurück, behält SGA einen Anteil der Anmeldegebühr für die entstandenen administrativen Aufwände (Bearbeitungsgebühr von 75 Euro).

Ist die Kontaktaufnahme zwischen Teilnehmer und Partnerorganisation erfolgt, besteht kein Anspruch auf Erstattung der Anmeldegebühr.

Rücktritt nach erfolgreicher Vermittlung/Buchung:

Die volle Programmgebühr ist vom Teilnehmer zu zahlen bzw. wird nicht erstattet.

In Ausnahmefällen behält sich SGA das Recht vor, nach eigenem Ermessen einen Teil der Programmgebühr zu erstatten.

Rücktritt nach Startdatum des Programms (Reiseantritt):

Keine Rückerstattung der Programmgebühr.

Anmerkung: Eine Verkürzung des Programms ist grundsätzlich nach Absprache mit dem Programmpartner und SGA möglich, allerdings ist bei bereits angetretener Reise keine Teilerstattung der nicht genutzten Programmzeit möglich. Betrifft nur Auslandspraktika: Der Teilnehmer hat keinen Anspruch auf eine vergütete Praktikanten- oder Projektstelle. Ein unbezahlter Praktikantenplatz ist kein Rücktrittsgrund.

10.2 Rücktritt für alle anderen Programme (Sprachreisen, Abenteuerreisen etc.)

Als Stichtag für die Berechnung der Frist gilt der Eingang der Rücktrittserklärung des Teilnehmers bei StudentsGoAbroad. Bei Rücktritt vor Reiseantritt (Storno) kann SGA eine Rücktrittsentschädigung der Programmgebühr geltend machen:

bis einschließlich 90. Tag vor Reiseantritt 20%

danach bis einschließlich 60. Tag vor Reiseantritt 30%

danach bis einschließlich 30. Tag vor Reiseantritt 60%

danach bis einschließlich 4. Tag vor Reiseantritt 80 %

danach bis Reiseantritt oder bei Nichtantritt 90 %

The internships and volunteer projects usually require that you speak English and possibly Spanish. However, it is always helpful to take a language course in the national language in preparation for your stay abroad since it cannot be assumed that everyone is able to speak English outside of the internship or the project.

We will inform you about the recommended vaccinations, flight offers, foreign health insurance, and visa formalities. Detailed information can be found on the respective pages on our website of the countries in which you would like to do volunteer or do your internship abroad.

Usually, other interns are on site. But it can also happen that you do not meet any other SGA candidates but there will certainly be other like-minded globetrotters.

EUROPE: With the European Health Insurance Card, you are covered in an emergency and treated by doctors free of charge. Make sure that you apply for it and that you take the EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) card with you on your trip.

Health insurance for your time abroad must be organized in any case. Our local partners have different offers and are happy to advise you on your options.

Of course, you can! In the past, we have been able to place many friends and couples together. Even if it wasn’t possible in the same internship or volunteer project it definitely worked out in the same city.

Your budget depends primarily on two main factors: which accommodation you choose and how you spend your free time. A room in a host family may seem more expensive at first glance but you should be aware of the fact that meals such as breakfast or dinner with the family are included. In contrast, in a shared student flat you have to pay for your own meals. Do not forget to include activities in your budgets, such as attending a concert, dining out, pub visits or excursions.

If you plan your stay abroad in Europe, your driver's license is usually valid. As soon as you go overseas you should apply for an international driver's license.

That always depends on the destination. If you want to start super last minute you should call us directly in any case. Especially in Europe, we can arrange internships within 2 weeks. We are also able to book an adventure trip for you within a week. For these trips we do, however, have to comply with the country-specific visa requirements and, if necessary, set some time aside for the visa application.

10.1 Programs for internships abroad and volunteering

Cancellation prior to a successful mediation/booking:

If the participant withdraws prior to contacting the partner organization, SGA retains a share of the registration fee for the administrative expenses incurred (processing fee of 75 euros). If the contact between the participant and the partner organization has taken place, there is no entitlement to a refund of the registration fee.

Resignation after a successful mediation/booking:

The full program fee is to be paid by the participant or will not be refunded.

In exceptional cases, SGA reserves the right to reimburse a part of the program fee at its own discretion.

Resignation after the start date of the program (travel start):

There is no refund of the program fee.

Applies only to internships abroad: The participant is not entitled to a paid internship or project position. An unpaid internship position is not a valid reason for cancellation.

10.2 Resignation for all other programs (language travel, adventure travel, etc.)

The deadline for the basis of the calculation is the day the receipt of the resignation of the participant has been received by StudentsGoAbroad. In case of withdrawal before departure (cancellation) SGA can claim a cancellation fee for the program fee:

up to and including the 90th day before departure 20%

thereafter up to and including the 60th day before departure 30%

thereafter up to and including the 30th day before departure 60%

thereafter up to and including the 4th day before departure 80%

afterward until departure or non-commencement of travel 90%

Note: A shortening of the program is generally possible after consultation with the program partner and SGA, however, in the case of travel already begun, no partial refund of the unused program time is possible.
